About
Just a few years ago, I googled my company name and what came up to my surprise was my dog Craig Longfellow’s Dogster blog. That was a real eye opener about search engine optimization. I got right on starting my own blog. Before I knew it, I was all over the web and the search engines loved me. It has been such a great experience that I started a company where our mission is to help ordinary (ok, maybe some extraordinary people, too) take advantage of all the new technologies to meet their business goals. It doesn’t have to be an outrageous expense nor a daunting task. At New Tricks, our motto is. . . “it’s never too late to be the best in breed”.
Judi Knight
If you’re a Queen or King of multi-tasking, you’ve met your match in Judi Knight. This Atlanta-based designer and project manager got her start first as a clinical psychologist and then started and built up a software company that she sold after ten years, back in the .com days. Not wanting to go back to sitting in a little room with people all day long she decided to take a risk and do what she loved and had been doing as a hobby, designing and building. For the past ten years, Judi’s design work has been mostly around residential and commercial buildings for which she received an Atlanta Urban Design Award as well as an Award of Excellence from the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation. She restored a fifties cotton sorting warehouse into seven lofts and kept one for her home and office. It has been featured on television and magazines and is quite stunning.
Over the past few years, as the building industry ground to a halt, her kids were off to the four corners of the globe, leaving Judi and her husband with four extra bedrooms. They began renting these out as the Urban Oasis Bed and Breakfast, in their 6,000 sq foot loft. Judi, fascinated with the potential of blogs and social network marketing, began to do more design work on the computer for herself and her friends. Judi’s reputation spread as she designed brands and WordPress based websites for small to midsized creative businesses and helped them set up social network channels. She enlisted the help of friend, Dene Shepherd, and together they started New Tricks, design + blogs + social marketing. For Judi it is the perfect blend, using her psychology to ascertain the message of a person and their business with her creativity in determining how best to present that to world and bringing her technical expertise into play in developing a site that is both creative and usable. You get a lot more than web design from New Tricks.
